Laserjet+ and Laserjet-II printers; the original Laserjet does not support
the necessary graphics commands.
You can define envelopes, fonts, and addresses by selecting the appopriate

Enter the coordinates of the return address and mailing address. You are
specifying the upper left corner of each area. The format is:
RA_ROW RA_COL
MA_ROW MA_COL
BC_ROW BC_COL
FM_ROW FM_COL
where RA is the return address, MA is the mailing address, BC is
the bar code, and FM is the FIM code.
The Post Office scanners look for the printed address in an imaginary
rectangle which extends from 5/8" to 2 3/4" from the bottom of the
envelope, with 1" margins on each side.
This is a help screen. Press ESC to return to work
or PgDn for information on bar coding (BC,FM)
^
The BC_ROW and BC_COL should position the bar code such that the leftmost
bar is between 3 1/4" and 4" from the right edge of the envelope and the
bottom of the bars is 1/4" from the bottom of the envelope.
The FIM code (FM_ROW,FM_COL) tells the post office scanners to look
for the bar codes. The FIM pattern should be no lower than 1/8" from
the top edge of the envelope and should lie in an imaginary rectangle
which extends for 1 1/4" horizontally, starting nore more than 1 3/4"
from the right edge of the envelope and no deeper than 5/8" from the
top edge of the envelope. The rightmost bar must be between 1 5/8"
and 2 1/8" from the right edge of the envelope.
If either the FM location or the BC location is "0,0", no bar codes will
be printed.

The Printer Setup screen controls the setup strings sent to the printer at
the time your envelope is printed. When it's time to print an envelope,
the following are sent to the printer:
-- Printer Reset (~E)
-- Landscape (~&l1O)
-- Manual Feed / Envelope (~&l3H)
-- Font Definition
-- Additional Printer Setup
This screen lets you turn on or off the Landscape and Manual Feed /
Envelope strings and define an additional printer setup string if, for
example, you want to enable a 2nd paper tray or auxiliary envelope feeder.
As with other printer strings, use "~" in the string to represent the ESC
character.
IF YOU HAVE A LASERJET IIP or are using the envelope tray for the Series II:
This is a help screen. Press ESC to return to work
or PgDn for information on the IIP and envelope tray.
^
IF YOU HAVE A LASERJET IIP or are using the envelope tray for the Series II:
You need to use the additional setup string to adjust the printer's
default margin in order to print at the top of the envelope. Enter the
following in the Additional Setup String field:
~&l0E
Then, press ENTER, ESC, and select SAVE.
This will align the first printable line (line 1) with the top edge of
the envelope.
